A warning to all Canadians considering voting Conservative: I've Seen this show Before

Anyone who doesn't live in Nova Scotia probably hasn't seen this particular Conservative ploy tax cut before. But I do live in Nova Scotia and I have seen it first hand.

In 2003 Progressive Conservative Premier John Hamm dropped the writ calling an election for August 5th, 2003. A short time before Hamm had sent out rum bottle type election bribes to voters in the form of a rebate check for $150. Then over the course of the campaign Hamm promised to cut income taxes and Nova Scotians for the most part fell for the ploy, re-electing the PC's albeit with a minority of 2 seats. The Provincial Liberals were the only major party that opposed the tax cuts, as they knew we couldn't afford it.

When the budget was passed the tax cuts were implimented. However several months later Hamm realized, as most Conservative politicians do when they cut taxes unnessesarily, that he needed the revenue those taxes would have provided. So he raised the taxes back up to where there were before. But not only that, he made the raise retroactive, which basically means we never got the tax cut at all. Hamm blamed the Federal Liberals (Of course, it's always the fed's fault right John? -Ed.) But I knew, as did my fellow Liberals, that the tax cut was merely an election bribe.

Yesterday Conservative Leader Stephen Harper was in Nova Scotia, up on a stage next to our Premier John Hamm. And today he announces a rum bottle promise of cutting the GST by %2. Don't be fooled Canada, I've seen this show before and the ending is down right depressing.
